So after a few big weeks doing mainly computer based work sorting out my Etsy store and getting this blog up and running I have finally put paint to paper. This one is titled “To The Moon and Back”. I was so in the moment while painting her that I forgot to take any progress shots. Oh well maybe next one. Prints will be available in my Etsy store shortly. Here she is……

So today was such a massive day for me. I finally clicked the magic button and listed my first ever product on Etsy. Yay!!! It was so exciting. I quickly whizzed over to the “Recently Listed” page and waited patiently to see my little painting pop up on the feed. I was so overwhelmed when I saw it I can’t even tell you. The funny part is in my head all I could hear was “We did it, we did it”. Definitely too much Dora The Explorer in this house I think :) Below is a little photo I took to [tell me more, tell me more]
I just can’t help myself when it comes to colour. I have tried painting in soft, subtle tones but it’s just not me. Some paintings start out that way but always seem to end up with bright crazy colour in them somewhere :) This painting is no exception. My own hair has been many, many, many different colours over the years. Lovely shades of Purple, Black, Blonde, Hot Pink, Fire Engine Red and many shades in between. But if I could have had my hair like this I probably would. I imagine “Rainbow Girl” might work in some quirky little [tell me more, tell me more]
This little painting started off with a wee sketch about friendship. I was away on holidays and thinking about my friends and how inseparable we were growing up and the adventures we used to have. I am still close with many of my special little friends from my childhood and I treasure them so very much. I was thinking about how it was not out of place to hold hands whilst playing when we were kids so I wanted these girls to be holding hands. I just adore watching that innocent play where kids are happy to just drag each [tell me more, tell me more]
Another post to tell you a little bit about one of my paintings. Today is A Little Bit About “Mardi”. Mardi has a few little stories going on here. As I started drawing her I was reminded of the captivating Miranda from Picnic At Hanging Rock (if you have not read the book or seen the brilliant movie you should totally look it up). Obviously she doesn’t actually look like Miranda as she was a stunning mysterious blonde angel. I guess it’s just that peaceful, misty, enchanting yet glazed look in her eyes or something. I don’t know. When constructing [tell me more, tell me more]
As a follow up to my post on A Little Bit About “Violet” I thought I would share a little bit about the other two Mermaids in the Mermaids for Milla series. I’m a bit of a “buy 3 in different colours” type of person when shopping and often I am a bit the same with my art. I like sets of 3 so another 2 Mermaids were born. Of course I also had some input from my little muse Milla. After seeing the results of her last request for a Mermaid painting she was keen to see another. She [tell me more, tell me more]
My “Mermaids for Milla” series started out with just one little dreamy mermaid who is now known as “Violet”. I innocently asked my 3 year old daughter Milla what I should paint today. Her enthusiastic response was “Merliah”. Those of you who have little girls may know her from the Barbie movie “A Mermaid Tale”. Milla is a little obsessed with her Barbie movies at the moment and is especially enchanted by Mermaids of all shapes and sizes (who isn’t??) So anyway a Mermaid it was. I like seeing artists works in progress so here are a few little pics [tell me more, tell me more]
Well it’s been a long process but I’m almost ready to launch my Blog, Etsy, Madeit and Facebook Pages. Yeah I know a bit much all at once but oh well. Once it’s set up I can get back to my art and relax a little. No one else is ever going to do it for me so I might as well get stuck into it all at the same time. It’s actually been nice to use my brain for a change. :)
