Some new art to share today, yay!! So here is Miss Polly. She is my first painting on wood panel. I was going for a vintage doll sort of a look. I will write some more about her a bit later though, for now I just wanted to share. There are a couple of progress shots on my Facebook page if you are interested.
If there’s one thing you should know about me it is that I am extremely self critical and insanely protective of all that I do and I am a rather private person in real life. When it comes to my so called art I constantly battle with the “your stuff is really crap” voice that plays over and over in my head. Someone the other day told me this means that I truly do have the heart and mind of an artist but to me I just think “no, maybe it’s just because my stuff really is crap”. So I’ve been pretty busy this past week. I’ve not had much time to get my crafty on sadly (two little kidlets can do that to you sometimes) but I did manage to get this little artwork finished. I’ll do a “little bit about” post about her a little later on with progress shots. For now I just wanted to share her. Prints will be available in my Etsy and Madeit stores very soon. I hope you like her.
Wow!!! This morning I jumped on Facebook for a quick look only to find a link to madeit’s front page which had a Rainbow theme. I clicked on it thinking to myself how cool it would be if my “Rainbow Girl” was in there. I laughed at myself then for being so ridiculous. I only opened my store 2 days ago. As if!!! And suddenly there she was!! Staring back at me in amongst all the beautifully colourful featured items was my little “Rainbow Girl”. How AWESOME!!!!! I’m so proud of my latest little painting. She’s everything I wanted her to be. The only problem is I just can’t seem to come up with a name for her. I’m sure it will come eventually but I didn’t want to wait for that moment before I shared her. So here is the girl with no name (for now).
So I haven’t been able to do much painting this past week for various reasons (a teething, clingy and now sick child being the main one) but today I managed to sneak out to gather some supplies from the art store which was heaven. I swear I could lose myself in there for days. Anyway I’ve been eyeing off some stuff to carve my own stamps for a while so I grabbed some lino carving tools and a sheet of soft rubber to carve up.
